To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday) during opening times:
A clinician will determine when your appointment will be, and we will contact you to advise you of this.
You can also:
- use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App) or Patient Access to book an appointment, screening test or vaccination
- phone us on Albion House 01384 465422 or Withymoor Surgery 01384 465422
When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.
We will use your answers to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or healthcare professional to help you.
Routine appointments
You can request a routine appointment in advance during opening times.
A clinician will determine when your appointment will be, and we will contact you to advise you of this.

Cancelling or changing an appointment
To cancel your appointment:
- use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- fill in a cancel an appointment form
- reply CANCEL to your appointment reminder text message
- phone us on Albion House 01384 465422 or Withymoor Surgery 01384 465422 during opening times
If you need help when we are closed
If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
Enhanced Access
In the Brierley Hill and Amblecote area practices are working in partnership to provide additional GP appointments. If you need access to an evening or weekend non-urgent appointment, please call the practice on 01384 465422 and speak to the receptionist at your registered practice during normal opening hours.
Your appointment may be with another practice in the Brierley Hill and Amblecote area and may not be at your registered practice.

Winter Access Hub
If your enquiry is triaged to attend the Winter Access Hub, then please ensure that you attend your appointment at the given time. You should also be aware that winter hub access appointments are held at:
- High Oak Surgery, Brierley Hill Health and Social Care Centre, Venture Way, Brierley Hill, DY5 1RU
Please note, AW Surgeries do not host Winter Access Hub appointments
If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
- if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
- if you need an interpreter
- if you have any other access or communication needs
Home visits
We do provide a home visiting service for those patients who are too frail to attend the surgery. It may be a nurse or doctor who visits, depending on the situation.
A GP will decide the appropriate clinician to visit. To make this decision, he / she may telephone the patient and discuss the case.
If they decide that it is not appropriate for carry out a home visit, the patient will be notified by telephone and informed that they will need to attend the surgery to be seen.
If you require a home visit please complete Get help for any health problem for or please telephone us before 11am as this helps our clinicians to plan their time efficiently.
When a GP visit is not appropriate
Urgent cases
In all of the following cases, it is imperative that the patient is treated as soon as possible, to achieve the best possible outcome. A delay in treatment while waiting for a house visit is damaging to the patient and inappropriate. In these case it is essential to get the patient to hospital as soon as possible and the correct approach is to call 999 for an ambulance:
- Heart Attack – severe crushing chest pain.
- Suspected Stroke – paralysis of any part of the body with associated lack of speech or cognitive ability.
- Difficulty breathing – patient is breathless, more than usual and is unable to walk.
- Severe Headache associated with nausea.
- Double Vision – Patient has double vision for more than 5 minutes.

Our minor ailment clinics are run by Advance Nurse Practitioners. They tend to cover the following common symptoms:
Children
- Fevers
- Cold
- Cough
- Earache
- Headache
- Diarrhoea/Vomiting
- Most cases of abdominal pain
Adults
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Influenza
- General malaise
- Back pain
- Abdominal pain
